SOCALYPAA is the Southern California Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous Conference. Its goal is to carry the message to the alcoholic who still suffers by hosting an annual and large scale Young People’s Conference. In doing this, SOCALYPAA hopes to foster a consistent fellowship that continues to thrive.
The formation of SOCALYPAA stemmed from GSDYPAA, the Greater San Diego Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous committee, when some current and former members experienced the excitement and fervor brought by their participation in the ACYPAA 2008 bid process.
California is unique in that its community of young people in recovery is highly dense. Because of this, we of SOCALYPAA feel that this state would benefit greatly from a second annual YPAA Conference. The unifying effect of bidding for and hosting a conference on this scale is something that all areas, in all parts of the country, should have the privilege of experiencing. It is our hope that we will inspire other parts of California to develop conferences of their own.

Alcoholics Anonymous Preamble
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.
